Venezuela Operations Update Following Recent Seismic Activity

Official statement · Caracas, 07/09/2026

Dear Clients,

We are writing to share a direct, transparent and official update on the situation in Venezuela following the recent seismic events affecting the Caracas and La Guaira regions, along with the operational and contingency measures we have implemented to safeguard the continuity of our services.

The wellbeing of our team

Our highest priority has been, and will remain, the safety and full support of our people. We are glad to report that all our staff and their families are physically safe.

Four colleagues living in the coastal area of La Guaira suffered material damage to their homes. We are already providing them with logistical assistance, material support and direct emotional support.

Status of our facilities

The headquarters and operational centers of JJ Marí International Movers are 100% operational. The minor cosmetic damage reported in the finishes of common areas (restrooms and kitchen) has been thoroughly assessed by structural engineers and ruled out as a risk. Our entire administrative and technical team is fully back at work.

Safety in local services: packing, pickup and delivery

Our local international moving operations remain active. As a mandatory safety measure, we have introduced a prior technical validation protocol to confirm that residences where pickup or delivery services take place meet the required structural conditions and hold the corresponding permits, ensuring the integrity of our operational team and of the goods in our custody.

Port and airport status, and contingency plan

As of the date of this statement, the Port of La Guaira (LAG) and Simón Bolívar International Airport (IATA: CCS) remain closed to physical operations while infrastructure assessments are carried out. The Customs Office, however, has fully resumed its administrative activities.

As a special contingency plan approved by government authorities:

  • Ocean freight: the Port of Puerto Cabello has been formally enabled to process all inbound and outbound import and export shipments originally scheduled through La Guaira. Containers already in the clearance process will be moved overland to Puerto Cabello under the protection and escort of the National Guard.
  • Air freight: authorities have enabled Arturo Michelena Airport in Valencia, subject to the limitations of its own operational capacity.

These measures allow us to resume and maintain the flow of the international logistics chain while the affected area returns to normal.

Social responsibility and humanitarian support

True to our values, we have activated humanitarian support channels. JJ Marí is directly coordinating the logistics and ground transportation of international Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) missions and of senior diplomatic delegations — including the Embassies of Germany and the Netherlands — providing vehicles, field coordinators and interpreters. Our company and our employees are also actively involved in collecting and channeling donations of essential supplies.

Our commitment to you

We want to convey a message of complete resilience and institutional commitment. In the face of force majeure scenarios, the JJ Marí team stands firm, operating under the strictest standards of safety and efficiency to honor the commitments made to each of you.

We are deeply grateful for the countless expressions of solidarity, for the messages of support received from the international moving community, and for the valuable assistance the international community is providing to our country at this time.

We will keep you promptly informed of any change in local regulations or logistics flows.

If you have a shipment in transit or need the status of your move, our team is available through our usual service channels.
